We looked for ways to taste Diana Cerezino’s paintings and found a palette in blue vitelottes, red beetroots, pink tuna and black rice, we thought about patience in painting and patience in pasta and made purply gnocchi, we talked about childhood memories, her Smarties notebook and her mom’s cakes — and offered ‘quantos queres’ as souvenirs.

Diana Cerezino (b.1988) is an abstract painter exploring perception and the relativity of colour.
“Colour conveys a deep sense of visual memory for the artist and her combinations create an automatic response in the viewer to pursue an image via the continuity and predictability of the composition. This exploration uses the relative certainty of the grid to create a sense of surprise in these paintings, a sense of discovery as the eye flicks and jumps from square to square between the painter’s subtle changes of colour, texture and finish. The paintings themselves are never figurative, but simply a point of entry for each individual to then interpret and bring their own reading and own story.”
